installing xp pro on WD 320GB harddrive

I am trying to install xp pro onto a new WD 320 HD, when the installation
reaches the inspecting your system, the blue screen comes on "Windows Setup"
at this point it freezes, my last attempt this screen sat for four hours with
no results. What am I doing wrong.

WD provides their own setup software to initialize and format new drives. It
comes on a boot disk with the drive or can be downloaded from their web
site.

The HD was formatted and initialized per WD Install disk. The problem is
installing xp pro onto this drive. I am using a OEM xp pro cd. The first
screen says "it is inspecting the system, the next screen says "Windows
Setup" and this is where it remains, there is no further action or messages.
Just the blue screen sitting there.
