installing xp home over pro.

I bought a usec computer which had xp professional on it
but an invalid product key. Can i install a new home
edition over pro. or will in need to re-format the H.D.

No, you cannot directly install XP Home over XP Pro.
You'll have to start from scratch by deleting the XP Pro
partition, create a new partition, format the partition
(preferably NTFS) and install XP Home "clean".
