Installing XP, but another installation already started

Hi. I recently got my computer assembled by a friend, after having screwed it
up fairly badly the first time. Anyway, he started to install Windows XP on
it, which is alright, except that now I can't use the windows product key
from my old computer to install windows on the new one. Is there any way to
completely restart the set up from the beggining? Can I delete the stuff that
was done off the other CD from my hard disk? Can I do ANYTHING, or do I have
to use the cd key from my friend's copy/buy a new cd key?

As in "product key"...XP isn't transferable from 1 pc to another,+ youre
friends
key is licensed to that pc,it wont register on another....

Is your copy of winxp retail or OEM?
