Installing Wndows on a standalone drive

I accidently knocked over my computer and it wont boot up anymore, so I am
wanting to install windows on a standalone drive to operate the computer. Is
this possible? And how would I do it? I tried to replace the hard drive, but
it boot up to it. Any ideas anyone? I figured that I ruined the hard drive
that is in the computer. Thanks!

Laptop or tower?

If a tower, have you checked all connections inside?

Windows XP will only boot from an internal disk drive.

Why not show your computer to a professional technician, to find out
exactly why it's not working?

Chances are the harddrive is still good,
you probably just knocked something loose inside..

open the case and have a look, it may be obvious
