I currently have Windows 98 and am attempting to install
XP on my Gateway Computer. Windows is blocking this
installation because of a Gateway program called GO BACK.
I've uninstalled this program, but still, Windows will not
let me install XP because the installation procedure still
considers GO BACK as being a viable application. It's
kind of an impasse that I don't know how to get past.

Besides just uninstalling GoBack, did you remove all shortcuts to that
program from your startup/start menu directories, and de-select all
references to it using the "start menu" tab in msconfig?
Angry at the world? Ask me for a sample copy of VITUPERATIONS.
