installing windows xp on a computer from a stock dell 8300 windows

I Have a Reinstallation CD , Microsoft Windows XP Profession Including
Service Pack 1a. Anyways can I install this windows xp from this CD? It came
with my new Dell 8300 when I purchased the computer. Also I'd like to know if
when I'm prompted to give the Certification of Authenticity I should give the
Product Key from my Dell 8300 or the Product Key from the Compaq 5000 a
series computer that I want to install it on? Oh, and the disc says : " Only
use this CD to reinstall the operating system on a Dell computer. This CD is
not for reinstallation of programs or drivers". So alot of questions but if
you can help thanks alot. It seems like I'd have some problems trying to
install on a Compaq with this CD disc.

You cannot use the Dell Windows XP to install on a Compaq computer.
It will only install on the Dell computer it shipped with since it's license
is directly tied to a Dell computer.

You'll need to purchase a conventional "Retail Upgrade Version" of
Windows XP if you wish to upgrade your Compaq computer.
