Installing Windows XP Home on Laptop with RAID Fails

B

Brett Lawton

Hi,

I am trying to install Windows XP Home on my laptop that
has RAID (Promise Fasttrak 100). I can go through the
setup, Press F6 when prompted insert the correct Floppy
with the drivers and see the Hard drives. I can then
format the Array and as soon as it copies files it
prompts for the floppy with the RAID controller drivers
but seems to have lost connectivity to the USB Floppy
drive. So at this point I am stuck and cannot continue.

Is there anything I can do so that the floppy remains in
communication or possibly tailor the installation so that
the drivers are available on the CD or place other than
the Floppy which loses connection?

Many thanks,
Brett

Some motherboard bios' have a glitch that requires Legacy USB support to be
on. The term may vary.
The bios should be presenting a USB floppy drive as a Floppy drive... and
thats that!
Perhaps check at the motherboard manufacturers site for bios updates if this
does not work and if there is one specifically mentioning this, then
consider a bios update. If you do, ensure you follow the instructions on the
web site for doing the update.
