I recently tried to "build" a computer. The old one died so I purchased new
guts and an OEM version of Windows XP. I try to install the O/S but it won't
let me. Heres the jist of how far it let's me go....
1) set up is checking hardware configurations
2) set-up : Press F6 to load 3rd party SCSI or RAID drivers (which I just
let it go passed on it's own)
3) Error code is 4 - Can't load windows press any key to reboot
Does anyone know what the deal is? Is there a way to reformat a hard-drive
including the boot sectors. Maybe that's why it's not working. First I
tried to load an old version of windows on the drive just to see if I could
get the thing to run. But it wouldn't let me do that.....I'm guessing to
prevent me from breaking a law or something. So I just bought a new and
legal OEM version. The errors from above are the result of my tring to
install that new O/S.....can anyone help me?
