installing windows vista

my computer currently has Windows XP on it. the activation days has ran out
so everytime i turn on the computer it loads to the login screen and tells me
to activate it but when i try it doesnt work. I know im connected to the
internet cause i used it while it was working. I just bought windows Vista
and
i need to know how to Install it. without having to activate the windows XP
currently on my computer. i put the CD in but nothing happened. i need to
know ASAP please reply.

If you bought an upgrade version of Windows Vista you will have to sort out
your XP activation and then install from within that activated XP install.
If this is a full copy you can boot from the media and install that way.

its a full copy would i go into system bios and change the boot sequence
to the CD drive?

Yes - you need to make the DVD drive the first boot device.
then boot with the DVD in and watch the screen for the Press any key to boot
from CD/DVD message, then you should be OK.
