Has anyone had any luck installing VS2005 on Vista 5365?

I'm having no joy at all - the setup program completely craters before even
starting the install. Ironically, VS did install successfully on 5308,
which was otherwise too buggy to work on.

I have not attempted, it did install successfully for me on 5308
also. Have you disabled or UAP to see if it installs then?

Yes, I disabled it. I hadn't disabled in under 5308 - maybe I'll try
turning it back on to see if that helps.... (wouldn't that be ironic!)

Yup, I got it to install - eventually. The setup crashed out quite a few
times, and then it just worked and the install went flawlessly.

Gee... that's.... encouraging? I've only tried twice so far - maybe if I
give it another few tries I'll get lucky...

I turned off a few things:

- UAC (aka UAP) (actually, I tried it both ways, but in the end, it's off)
- DEP/NX
- Security Center service
- Superfetch service
- Windows Search service

.... and now the VS installer is running. Of those, I strongly suspect that
it's DEP/NX that made the difference, but who knows...
