Hi,

I'm trying to install VB.net 2003 on Windows XP Home SP1.
When I run the setup program I get the usual menu of 4 items. Everytime I
click to install the programs on the Prerequisites CD it says it needs to
shut down and restart the computer. This is an endless loop as after it
reboots it says the same thing again.

Is there a known issue for installing VB.net on XP Home? I've installed it
many times on XP Proffessional without needing to reboot before the
Pre-Requisites CD, and without any errors.

Any help greatly appreciated. I've searched the MS Knowledgebase and there
appears to be no known issue.

Thanks
Rich.

I'm not sure about installing it on Home Edition but try this.

You can skip the autorun and instead just install the pre-reqs alone. See
if that works and then do the remainder of the install after that completes.

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestion. We finally found that it was a hard disk problem.
Have replaced it, and VB .Net installs as normal.

Rich.
