Installing SP2 question

As we all know, Windows and inparticular the registry get
overly bloated. Especially when installing and unistalling
software. So, once a year I clean out my system by
formatting and reinstalling windows. My question is this;
can I install XP Pro (original), bypass the 4 hours of
downloading and updating to SP1 and all other critical
updates, and go straight to SP2? If I have to install SP1
first, where can I download SP1 and all the other critical
updates seperately so I have them on file when I go on to
the next machine in six months?

See FAQ #3
Do I need to install Service Pack 1 or any other updates before installing
Service Pack 2?
No, Service Pack 2 is cumulative and includes all prior Critical Updates.
There is also no need to uninstall any previous updates.

Hi,

You may also wish to look at doing a slipstream install.
Google on slipstream XP for a How To.

At this point, SP2 is all you need to update XP, so far as critical updates
go. Download the network install version and burn it to CD for your future
installs.

The link you offered can not be displayed. I would never trust a third party
for anything on my OS.
