Hello, Whenever I try to install service pack 1A, I get an error message
saying that atapi.sys is in use and that I need to close the application
that is using it for setup to continue. I have tried to boot in safe mode
but the problem still occurs. Hope someone can help.

Thanks

Perform a "clean boot" and then install SP1a.

Visit: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/updates/sp1/default.mspx
and select "Network Installation", download SP1a to a new folder, then install.
