Installing Slave Drive

Hi, Guys, Greetings!

I have 3 PC's in my network. One is running Win98 SE and the other two both
run Windows 2000 Pro, All belongs to the same workgroup but no domain. Now I
have 2 questions:

1) Do I have to create a domain name to have my network more secure? Will
the PC running win98 elligible?
2) Is the ordinary PC running on Win2000 Pro can be upgraded to Windows
Server? ( I am planning to launch and host my company's website right through
my PC. They don't want to pay for a hosting fee :) )

Hi, Guys!

Sorry for the Subject. Anyway, my first question would be How will I make my
hard drive a slave drive for the other computer? I have 3 PC's in my network.
1 running Win98 SE and the other two are running Win2000 Pro.

Did you mean share the drive? You'll want to create an account (in Users and
Passwords) on the Win2k machine(s) with the username and password that you
use to logon to the win9x machine(s) with. Then you'll need to share out the
resource(s) with permissions for those users. Also make sure they're all
part of the same workgroup. Then you'll no longer be prompted for the IPC$
password Inter-process communication)

In a peer level workgroup, when you try to access resources on a Windows
2000 machine, Windows 2000 needs to authenticate the user. If the user
account doesn't exist in it's local account database, then access will be
denied.

Hi, Dave!

I think I need to sit down again with the bosses and explain to them the
need of buying a domain name and web hosting thing. At least I can print
your advice (one coming from a pro) and show it to them.

Thanks a lot!
