The Shield is not a very good Anti-Virus hopefully you didn't pay much for
it. The Serial number should be on the box or the cd sleeve somewhere. It
will not be within your computer but maybe theirs. The company doesn't have
to be anything special you can just put a simple letter in there or a fake
company it doesn't matter. You will need the serial number to install this
and you will need it to get your updates.

Also, if the elderly couple installed it on their computer for a while then
they probably registerred it to themselves which means you will only get the
remainder of their year of use and if they have had it for more than a year
but just used it for a little while then the serial number is no good anyway
cuz the year is up.

If I were you I would go get my money back and put it towards Trend Micro
PC-Cillin 2006 Internet Security. By far better than the rest of Anti-Virus
products out there and The Shield is crap and it will miss many infections.
Sorry for the bad news. Good Luck

Company names are optional.
The Serial number you must get from the private party you received it from if it is
not on the packaging or CD sleeve/jewel case it came in.

You also mention "they had used it abit". Almost all purchased AV apps have a 1yr
registered license which must be renewed at the year end term if you plan to continue
using it.
