Installing Serial ATA Dard Drive

Set your bios to boot from scsi rather than ata hard drive.

I upgraded my computer with a ASUS Mobo P4PE/LAN/1394/SATA/GD-UAY and
continued to use my existing Hard Drive. My OS is Windows 2000 Pro.
Everything worked fine.

I have now installed a Maxtor 80Gb Diamond Max hard Drive SATA. I have
created a Primary Partition and formatted this drive and am able to
use the drive but I am unable to install Windows on it.

How do I make the SATA drive my C Drive and install Windows on it.

Any help will be appreciated

I have this same Mobo and just recently purchased a Maxtor 160GB SATA drive,
the DiamondMax. But I can't seem to access it at all on my system. I want
to use it as a second drive, I followed the directions from Maxtor on using
the MaxBlast software but the drive doesn't show up in the list of drives to
format.

Do you know what I need to do to access the SATA drives? I checked my bios
and it is enabled. Checked around for device drivers but can't seem to find
any specifically for the SATA controller on that motherboard. Help!!

I sent Asus an email but who knows if I'll ever get a response from them.

When you go into Windows 2000 install it will ask you, briefly!, if you want
to install any RAID or 3rd Party Drivers from floppy. Hit the given F key,
and install the
Win 2000 SATA drivers, that you've copied from the motherboard installation
CD onto a floppy.
