Installing Programmes

Hi there.

I have recently built a new machine and I have purchased Vista Home Premium
64bit.

System spec, if it helps is:

DualCore Intel Core 2 Duo E6420, 2133 MHz
Asus P5N-E SLI
nVIDIA nForce 650i SLI
2048mb RAM
BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC 320mb
Western Digital Hard-Drive - 500gb
LITE-ON DVDRW LH-20A1H ATA Device

Firstly, I would like to comment on how useable and attractive I think the
Vista GUI is, certainly the best looking OS I have used before. However, for
me it has come with its problems.

I have updated Windows including all of the optional updates, and I have the
latest drivers for both my Motherboard and Graphics Card.

My main issue is the fact that I have had lot's of problems installing
software from a CD/DVD and also from a Removeable USB drive.

Call of Duty 1 - The setup launches, but the installation freezes before I
can select any options, I can't end task and I can't log off or reboot - the
only thing I can do it to do a reboot from the PC itself - or use the power
button. I have tried running it in XP compatability mode and also "run as
admin".

3DMark06 - Setup launches - but takes literally 10 minutes before the
installation even begins - it then took around 30 minutes to install.

I'm reluctant to purchase any software for this machine now as I feel it's
just going to be a waste of money if it won't install - I can see no use for
a PC where the sofware I want to use won't work!

If anybody can suggest a fix for the problem then that would be great so I
can prove to all the Vista-doubters that it does have some good qualities!

Well, what you should have done was check to see if the hardware you have
gotten was Vista compatible.

You need to check if the software is Vista compatible.

I hear Vista 64bit is not ready for overall usage, like its 32bit version.
