installing program

I am trying to install a program and i get a message
right away that says: "16 bit windows subsystem.
c:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt. The system file is not
suitable for running ms-dos and microsoft windows
applications".
Can someone please tell me what is causing this and how
do i fix it?
