I have an old Microsoft dictionary "Bookshelf" I have to
insert a disk each time I want to look up the mining of the
word. Can I install this dictionary permanently to my computer.
Many thanks Henry.

Only if the dictionary was designed to do so. In other words, you'd have to
find out if it has a setup routine and run it. This is not an XP issue or
an issue with any operating system other than whether or not the application
is compatible and even then, the issue belongs to the app developer as it is
the developer's responsibility to provide updates or new versions.

Thanks Michael, I think there is a way.
