Installing optional XP CD programs over SP2

I installed SP2 on my XP Home Edition on Friday. So far, I like much
of what I see. However, I was doing some disk cleaning with various
programs today and all of a sudden my Games folder ended up empty.

I inserted my original XP CD in and attempted to load those games from
that CD to my hard disk, but the system balked at that saying it
couldn't find any of those games on my CD. Fortunately, I had saved a
System Restore point yesterday and by reverting to that, all the files
in my XP standard Games folder (e.g. solitare etc.) came back and
things are 'back to normal'.

But, for future reference: What is the proper way to grab stuff like
this of the original XP Home Edition CD now that SP2 has been
installed? Am I the only one who has had this problem or tried to do
something similar?

Hi Ted

It seems as though one of the 'cleaning' programs you used cleaned more than
it should have done. System Restore is probably the best way back, as you
found out. You should be able to re-install from the XP CD via Control
Panel>Add/Remove Programs>Add/Remove Windows Components.

Thanks Will! I took another look and see that I missed that icon on
the left about components. I'll try and recall that when the need
arises!
