installing older programs into XP

im trying to install a windows 95/98 program into my XP
home edition. The computer wont load or install the
program when i put it in the cd drive. The hour glass
comes up but nothing happens. i tried using "program
compatibility wizard" but everytime i click "i want to
run the program in the CD-ROM drive" it tells me "wizard
could not locate the programs on your CD, Click ok to
retry, cancel to try and locate the program manually"
Clicking ok does nothing, the same message just keeps
coming up and i cant search for the program manually
because it isnt installed into the computer. Any one with
any solutions. please help. thank you

Do that manual selection method and search with the browse on the CD for
the setup.exe or install.exe for the program, and run that in Win98 mode
