I got a used computer that had XP installed. It needed a harddrive
wipe. Only after I formatted, did I realize that the version on the
computer was XP Home. No big deal. I can live with Home. However, the
PC didn't come with a disc. I have a non-OEM XP Professional CD. Is it
possible to install Home Edition using a Professional Disc?

No. But if yours it a legitimate, unused retail copy of XP
Professional, just install Professional. There's no reason to
prefer Home over Professional. Home is just a subset of
Professional; there are features in Professional not in Home, but
the reverse isn't true. If you don't need the extra Professional
features, just don't use them.

No, of course not. They're completely different products.

I have an OEM disc that is already used on one computer. I have a
second computer (the used one I bought) which came with a product key
(XP Home) but no disc. I was just wondering if I could save myself the
extra step of aquiring a non-OEM XP Home disc from my friend, thats all.

It is a legitiamte copy, it's just that I've already legitamately
installed it on my other computer. I want Home because that's what the
new used computer is licensed for. I'm not trying to get something for
free, just want to get what I paid for. :)

To close this topic out: my friend had a non-oem XP Home disc, I
installed that with my key and everything is working fine.

Good. Thanks for the followup.
