Peter

i have taken a hard drive from a windows 2000 system (secondary) and am
trying to install into windows xp system.

when i run windows xp after installing, the hard drive is not listed.

when you check device manager, it shows up there. working.
(under property - volume info. it says that the disk is volume of 0 size.)

does anyone know what is wrong here and how to fix it.

Try checking in the Disk Management Section of the Computer Management tool.

See if your drive is listed there, it is possible that the partitions
haven't been assigned a drive letter.

On the device manager, property, Volumes info you looked at, did it say
"Capacity 0MB" in the top section of the window, or list a volume at the
bottom having a capacity of 0MB?

Chris.

it is on a friend computer. what i can remember, it was listed at the
bottom. (all three were zero at the bottom)
