Hello:
I'm trying to salvage my hard drive. Following is the advice I got from a
user of this newsgroup:
"To see if your hard disk is still useable, remove it from the laptop and
install it in an external 2.5" USB case. You can now connect this case
to any Windows XP PC to check your files. Later on you can use the
same case plus a 2.5" hard disk as your backup device. You'll be
surprised how little it costs and how effective it is."
Do you know where to find instructions for installing the hard drive into
the case? Do they come with the case? Is this a simple procedure?
Also, how do I connect the case to the computer with XP? And, once this
connection is made, what steps do I follow in order to salvage the data on
the hard drive? Does XP have a built-in utility?
Thank you,
John
