Installing Frontpage 2002 / No activation code

I am trying to phone activate FP2002 (see my earlier question and reply).
Where do I find the code for my laptop to give to the phone activation
people? I can launch the installation wizard for FP but not any activation
wizard. They suggested going to Start - All Programs - Microsoft Office
Tools, and it should be there, but it isn't. And having waited in a
telephone queue for 30 mins I got cut off when 6 o'clock came and went, and
now its after hours.

If I remember correctly:
Launch FrontPage.
Select Activate by phone.
Then check "activate later"

Thanks again Steve. Unfortunately I am not getting the option to activate by
phone. I launch the FP installer, get asked for the key, assent to the terms
and conditions, then it tells me FP is not available.

By any chance are you installing from an upgrade CD.??

The activation prompt should come up after the installation is complete.

No, its a full version, bought personally 3 yrs ago, previously installed on
my old desktop. In which case I guess the question is why is the FP Install
Wizard telling me that FP is not available to install? Assuming, as you
suggested, I can install on both the desktop and the laptop without
uninstalling.

Not sure what your question is about the word install - see other answers in
this thread.
I launch the FP installer, get asked for the key, type it in, assent to the
terms
and conditions, then get a screen which askes if I want the default
installation (already checked), full installation or custom. I leave the
first option checked, click "next" and it goes to a screen which has an "x"
against the name FrontPage with the words "not available".

That means you are installing an upgrade version of FP and do not have an older version installed on your pc
- If you have a prior version of FP when asked for the location of the older version insert your CD from the older version and
browse to it
- If you do not have a prior version installed or as a CD you can not use the upgrade version

Sounds like you are trying to install FrontPage.
The box with the "Not Available" on it usually has a drop down list of
options. Have you checked the options?

Thanks Stefan. (for "progress" see reply to your colleague below) This is
the same full version and disk I bought 3 years ago and installed on my
desktop. To re-ask my initial question, does this mean I have to uninstall
it from my desktop? Your other colleague's previous answer was no.

OK, progress of a kind. (I have been out all day till now). I just kept
trying and then just pressed "install" even though it said "not available",
and the Wizard went through a whole installation procedure. HOWEVER it
didn't ask where to install it, it didn't put an icon on the desktop, and I
can't find it in the list of all programs, so I can't use it. I have
searched everywhere in Explorer. If I go to Control Panel / Add or Remove,
it is in the list and available for removal, but that doesn't tell me where
to find it so I can use it.

As I said above in the other answer, this IS a full version of FP2002, and
it worked before on my desktop.

HELP. Very grateful for it.

Thanks Wes. It's not there.

When I first used FP on my old desktop, (where FP is still installed), I
probably used the 45-day demo version which came with the MS tutorial book,
then bought and installed the full version. Would this be affecting what
gets installed now?

Thank you Wes, Ron, Stefan et al

The answer is: last time I must have used my purchased full version of
FP2002 to upgrade the 45-day trial version of FP2000. I uninstalled what I
installed 2 days ago, and miraculously, the trial disk has allowed me to
generate another 45-day trial. I then installed FP2002 again, whereupon the
Wizard presented me with all sorts of options, like do a full install, delete
whatever's there already, or upgrade.

Thanyou for your answers which led in the direction of this conclusion.
