Installation Help

I replaced my harddrive and I'm trying to install a fresh copy of xp pro sp1,
The PC goes through the Bios start up, and says enter boot from cd. I hit
enter, the blue screen come on saying windows setup, and at the bottom it
shows the different files that are being loaded, after a few minutes, at the
bottom again it says setup is starting windows. But that is where it stays, I
have tried several different times to get the program running more, even used
several different Harddrives. still I'm unable to move on into the
installation process.... Please help. (thank God I have a laptop)

Failure to install an operating system is usually caused by bad hardware.

1. Bad install disk (try on another computer)
2. Bad optical drive (try a different optical drive)
3. Bad hard drive (test with a diagnostic utility)
4. Bad RAM (test with a diagnostic utility)
5. Bad power supply (test or swap out for a known-working one)
6. Bad motherboard (test with diagnostic utilities)

Since you've already tried different hard drives and presumably tested them
to make sure they are all good, you need to go through the rest of the
possibilities.

Just on the off chance, remove the HD and try again. I'm almost sure
it will run up to the point of install. Yep it will yipe at you that
there is no source to install on, but it should get to that point.

If all you did is took a working system that failed due to the HD, and
replaced the HD, I'd second guess the HD installation. "IF"

If the new drive is a SATA drive AND you really don't have SP1, THEN you may
have trouble. The original XP distribution didn't know diddly about SATA
drives.
