Installing Excel Feature ?

Lately, every time I open one of my XLS spreadsheets, Excel pops up a
Windows Installer window that says "Installing Excel Feature".
Although it finishes normally and my spreadsheet opens, I am annoyed
by the repeated delay. Why does it need to install this feature
(whatever it is) every time? How can I find out what feature it's
talking about, and get it to stay installed once and for all?

I'm running Excel 2003 SP3 under Windows XP SP3.

When you installed Office on PC did you select "run from my computer" on
all the applications?

Maybe have a look through Control Panel>Add/Remove>MS Office>Change/Remove

Select "Change" and follow your nose to see what's set to "run from my
computer".

Yes. I always choose the most complete install, so I never have to
dig out that installation CD again.... until I have to re-install
when I get a new computer as I did last week.

I clicked "Change" but couldn't find "run from my computer"

That is bizarre. If you have a good install disk, try reinstalling.
I've solved a lot of those kind of weird problems by just doing
that.

Then again, it doesn't ALWAYS work, it just depends on your
computer most of the time!

After clicking on "Change" the configuration should start.

Wait a minute untill it loads fully and a second screen comes up with 3
options.

Add or Remove features.

Reinstall or Repair

Uninstall.

Did you get that screen?

If so, select Add or Remove features.

Click on Excel and see what the options are for ruuning.

I apologize for the delay. I was away for my wedding and honeymoon.
Back to work now....

Yes.

I got a screen saying, "Select the Microsoft Office 2003 applications
you would like to install. Please deselect the Microsoft Office 2003
applications you would like to remove."

All applications were selected.
Click on Excel and see what the options are for ruuning.

I selected the box at the bottom, "Choose advanced customization of
applications" and clicked "next". On the ensuing screen, I opened
"Microsoft Office Excel" and all were selected except ".NET
Programmability Support" which I don't need since I only edit ordinary
spreadsheets. I pulled down "Microsoft Office Excel" and noticed
that "Run all from My Computer" was already checked.
