Installing a scanner

I am trying to install a Canon CanoScan 8400F USB scanner and am having the
following error:

Cannot Install this Hardware
There was a problem installing this hardware:
CanoScan
An error occured during the installation of the device
The class installer has denied the request to install or upgrade this device.
Click Finish to close the wizard.


I do have the Class Installer - Imaging devices component installed.

Do you have Windows Image Acquisition Core component in the image?

It is better to just create a component for the scanner rather than
installing it post-FBA.

I do have that component as well as the Windows Image Acquisition User
Interface component.

We have tried a different brand of scanner with the same problem. The driver
CDs only have an .EXE installer and no .INF to create a component from.
