Hey everyone) I got windows vista. I bought a cd to learn russian, but my
computer doesn't support russian and most of the writing that is in russian
is encoded. I've been told to try changing the language trhough the control
panel, but it did no work. What else can I do?

Hi,

Control Panel/Regional and Language Options/Keyboards and Languages tab,
click the button to Change Keyboards. Add support for the language here, and
you can also enable the Language Bar as well to facilitate easy shifts
between them.

By adding a New Language in Control Panel/Regional and Language
Options/Keyboards and Languages tab, will make it possible for you to _type_
in this new language, in this case Russian, and then only in "native MS
Windows Cyrillic", not like it used to be in WinXP where one could type in
Russian KOI8-R or Unicode.
As I understand the problem, Vista "screwed up" in the area of
International Languages Unicode department, with a vague promise to get it
fixed in the uplcoming SP1 (middle of March?).
In the meantime take your CD and try to read it in somebody's Windows XP
machine: it will probable "read" OK.
As an experiment - a short sentence in Russian, not that it will help you
with your CD. :)

Yeah, and I'll probably check with the vendor.

Thank you all)
