Installer error message

I keep getting error 1607 and a message that tells me
runtime will shut down. What does this mean and what can
I do to fix it?
 
What programs are you in when you get the message?
Can you give us the message verbatim?
What happens when you see the message? Do you click on anything? Does a
shutdown actually occur? What kind of shutdown? Normal or otherwise?
 
I'm trying to install a Hobbit game demo that I downloaded
from the internet.
The message says "1607:Unable to install Installshield
scripting runtime" and there is a dialogue with OK as the
only option. When you click OK, the system does not shut
down, but the installation is gone and I'm back at the
desktop. The system runs fine after this but I can't
install the program.
Any ideas? Thanks.
