installer 3?

forgive my ignorance if I'm totally off since I havn't been able to find any
info on it,
but I thought I heard something somewhere about a Windows Installer 3 coming
soon...did I hear correctly and if so where can i find info about it?

Currently the Beta program is running. But I got no idea as well, when and
how the "product" MSI 3.0 will come out. Could anyone tell us the timeline
please???
