Installed XP Pro 1a - No password set, yet computer is asking for

I installed XP Pro Service pack 1a on the old computer, which has never had a
password on it, as the interent is not used on that computer. After it has
taken me several ours to uninstall everything necessary to install windows
XP, it finally completes installation. It asks me for the names to create
accounts on the Pc, so i only type in one name as it is a shared PC. I did
not set any password at all yet the PC is asking for a password to log into
XP.

I cannot even get to the start menu so any instructions that way are kind of
pointless. Please help as i may just destroy the PC physically very shortly.

Hello:

Have you tried depressing the "Enter" key for the password?

Tried both suggestions previously and this error box pops up saying;
"We could not log you on this time, as

"The specified domain does not exist or could not be contacted."

Please try again or cantact the system administrator"
The thing is that I am the system administrator and there is no way to get
to the account settings.

"The specified domain does not exist or could not be contacted."

The computer was previously part of a domain. Since you are no longer
connected to the network, you cannot sign in.

If you know the previous network administrator's password, I believe you
can disconnect the account from the domain. Otherwise, you need to
format the drive and reinstall Windows.

I don't think it was as it is our home computer, that has NEVER had a
password on it. I'm guessing i should just try again to einstall windowas
then yes??

Big assumption - not necessarily true. ;-)

Create the following CD and boot from it:
http://home.eunet.no/pnordahl/ntpasswd/

Use it to reset the administrator password (blank it) and reboot/try again
with no password.
(You'll be able to choose the user to blank the password for.)

If that fails and this computer was hooked up to the Internet with SP1a or
before for any length of time - there's a chance... it was
infested/infected and that is the real issue.

The password is blank unless you create one. You accomplish entering a
blank password by pressing the "Enter" key when asked for a password.
