You need to start over and install Windows XP properly
by deleting all partitions, create a new partition, format
the new partition NTFS, then install Windows XP.
Installing one OS on top of another is never a recipe for reliable
computing. A fresh install would be best.
HST, if it's just that there is a defunct reference to Win2000 when the
computer starts, that is just a matter of editing the c:\boot.ini file to
remove the offending line.
Always do this with a texteditor such as Notepad, NEVER with Word.
