Installed SP2 (full), random window freezes...

Since having installed SP2, the full network downloadable one, on my system,
there have been random freezes of opened folders or drive directories; the
pane simply freezes, and if left alone, the Dr. Watson debugger window pops
up to announce it couldn't fix the problem. CTRL + ALT + DEL shows the pane
as "Not responding" and once it is forced to end, the entire Shell seems to
restart, keeping any programs open, but not any open windows browsing folders
or directories.

Anyone else experiencing this?

I am. Mine freezes, I open Task Manager, Application pane shows "Not
Responding", "End Task" usually ineffective, "REset" or "Off" buttons
usually required.

Try booting into normal mode with ALL startup items turned off. Also
download and run the latest ad-aware (www.lavasoftusa.com) and do a full
system virus scan.
More often then not it's something running in the background that's causing
the lag.

SP2 is known to have this problem. Uninstall service pack 2 and reboot.
See if this helps.

Update:

The problem appears to have been resolved in my situation by switching the
folder options from "detailed" to "thumbnail" view. No freezing upon
hovering the mouse over the file to bring up file details, or right clicking
and selecting file details. I switched back to "detailed" view, and the
freezing seems to have vanished.

Why this should be, I do not know. Long live the quirks of Windows.
