Installed new hard drive, now Outlook will not send/receive emails

Installed a new hard drive today, copied over all files from old boot disk
(used Western Digitals software), and now Outlook will not send/receive. I
get error 0x8007007e. My other MS Office products are acting weird as well.
They will load, but the installer starts to run and asks for the disk. If I
cancel, then it will continue on to the program.

Any suggestions?

Detect & Repair (help menu). Get your Office media handy. Or do a complete
reinstall/repair of Office if that doesn't work.

I have the same problem after installing a new drive but when I try to run
the setup I get "This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the
patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the appliction
vindor to verify that it is a valid Windows Installer patch package." and it
quits.
Can't repair, can't uninstall.

Brian,

Yes! Almost exactly! I wish I had seen this one before I reformatted my
old drive. :)

I did use the "MS Installer Cleaner" and it worked fine.

If I had known about the "c:\windows\installer" directory not copying
correctly I could have done it manually before formatting the drive.

Hopefully, my experience will prevent someone else from making the same
mistake.

And it would be nice if the Disk Copy program provided by the disk
manufacturer's did this correctly for us.

thanks for your response. I really appreciate people working together on
this Discussion Group.

That's no joke. I complained to Maxtor and they denied their copy program
had an issue with this, despite the fact that it was demonstrable.
