Installed IE8 and can't get onto facebook or my space any more

I had been using all the sofware from sbc yahoo. i decided to change and
go with IE 8. I can get onto some sites but facebook tells me it does not
support my browser. any ideas? this also happens on my space and a few of
the game sites of my husband. I have tried a system restore but it is not
responding and does not work. Any one have any ideas on this?

Tried to remove IE8 through Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel
yet?
