Installation Wizard Doesn't Work

I have a Compaq Presario P-4 512 meg ram desktop computer. I am trying to
uninstall and reinstall a program, but the "installation wizard" stops as
soon as it loads. I can neither uninstall nor reintall the program. HELP!
