Installation of XP SP1 - updating of Yamaha Sound System

I have a Toshiba Satellite 5105-S702 Laptop (Win XP Pro pre-installed by
Toshiba), Pentium 4, 1.8MHz, 512 MB RAM, 60GB HDD. The HDD was
re-partitioned, using Partition Magic 7, into 4 partitions, C: - Local Disk
(OS), D:- Applications, E: - Data & Downloads, F: - Backups.

I have downloaded the full 133MB version of Win XP SP1, which was saved in
the E Partition.

Ques - When I install full version of SP1, will it replace all the Win XP
Pro files, or just the ones to be updated ?

Ques - Will I have to reinstall all my applications(Lotus 123, Microsoft
Office, ABSPlus BackUp etc) , whether they are currently installed in
C:\Program Files, or in D:\Program files ?

Yamaha Sound System

Instructions for installing Win XP SP1, indicate that Yamaha Sound System
must be updated before installing Win XP SP1, as follows :

- Uninstall the current Yamaha Sound Driver in Add/Remove programs.
- Download the latest Yamaha Sound System Driver, "s5101sndx.exe" from
"http://df.toshiba/s5101sndx.exe", & install it.

"s5101sndx.exe" is the WinXP/SP1/2000 Sound driver for Yamaha AC-XG Sound
System; Version : 6.13.10.2152; Release Date : 09/06/2002. This version
fixes an incompatibility with Windows XP SP1 on Windows XP Home and
WindowsXP Professional systems.

However, I checked the version of the Yamaha AC-XG Sound Driver on my
laptopin Control Panel>Yamaha AC-XG, and it is Version 6.13.10.3145, date
12/05/2001. Therefore the current driver has a newer version number, but an
older date.

Ques - Has Toshiba / Yamaha has reverted to an older (version number)
driver, because the current driver, although a newer version number, does
not work with SP1 ?

Ques : Do I need to "update" the driver to version 6.13.10.2152 ?

Thank you

Thanks for your reply
No I didn't. This post was to clarify 3 specific points concerning replacing
/ updating WinXp files, re-installation of applications, and the Yamaha
Sound driver.

The other post dealt with the overall procedure for installing XP SP1.
I thought it would be easier to deal with any specific queries I had
concerning the XP SP1 installation, or steps in the procedure, in separate
posts.
