installation of xp home on my new system

I have an ASUS P5N32 sli se delux mobo, an SATA wd 36 gig raptor, a sony
dvd/cd drive (primary IDE master), wd 120 gig hd (secondary IDE master) and I
am getting hung up every time i try to install xp home at the (Setup is
Starting Windows) portion of setup. I have literally tried everything (other
than resetting CMOS and starting over) to get things running. The 120 gig hd
is not functioning as anything other than data storage; the 36 gig hd will
run xp home. The BIOS version is the most up-to-date (2040) for the mobo.
If anyone has any ideas here, please let me know. The only thing I can think
of is that because my XP home disk is not a disk with SP2 on it, it may be
causing the system to hang and time out. Any input is appreciated.

I believe you need to press F6 during boot from the CD and feed it the
chipset driver from a floppy, look at the bottom of the screen, it's shortly
after bootup.

It may be that WinXP doesn't include drivers to support your specific
SATA controller. Try this:

Very early in the boot process, just after having booted from the WinXP
CD, the screen will display the words to the effect: "Setup is examining
your system." Press <F6> when this happens, and have the
*manufacturer's* WinXP-specific drivers for your SATA controller
available on a floppy disk.
