Hi all,

Windows 2000 resource kit had a lovely little free command line tool called
'instaler'.
It would record a log of all file and registry access of any setup program
you ran with it.

Unfortunatly, It doesn't seem to work with Windows XP and I couldn't find an
alternative tool that does.

Does anyone know of any MS or 3rd party tool that can do the job?

Thanks,

Amy

HI Yves,

Thanks for your response.
I have tried the Norton System Works and really didn't like it.
I found NSW to be too much of a resource consumer and couldn't get NCS to
work properly without changing too many configuration options. Even then it
never worked flawlessly.
The thing is I don't need any of the extra feaures. I just need a small
logging tool like instaler, preferably a command prompt tool.
All I want it to keep a textual log of all the changes that were made to the
registry or any file by an installation program.

It's not a command line tool, but Total Uninstall works fine and it's free:
