I was upgrading my Windows 98 computer to Windows 2000 proffessional. After
what seemed like a normal install, I was asked for the Service Pack 2 CD. I
found the executable on the web, unzipped and burned many CD"s trying to get
the installation to complete. How do I get Service Pack 2 in CD Form to
complete this installation?

Don't unzip it, just copy W2ksp2.exe to the cd and try that. Hint: You
may just as well download SP4 (W2ksp4.exe) instead of sp2. Hint #2:
You aren't starting on a very good footing with this. You will have a
much better and more stable installation if you install W2K from scratch
on a newly formated drive.

I wish I could start from scratch. The only reason I am doing this is to
get data off of an additional hard drive that I have. I tried to put the
hard drive (which I used for data storage only) on a new computer, but it
wasn't compatable. When I re-assembled the old computer, I lost my network
card. Tried to fix that but nothing worked, So I figured let's put W2K and
see if that helps, but got stuck. All this for a computer i am about top
throw away.

I see... How was the drive not compatible? Good luck, hope you get it
sorted out a get to enjoy the rest of the weekend.

What's a "weekend"? I don't know why the drive (maxtor 40GB) was not
compatable. After I rebuilt a newer computer with my Network Card,
additional memory and hard drive, I kept getting asked to reformat the
additional drive. That is why I had to start over. thanks for your help.
Funny thing was, I used the original W2K Disk as it was rebooting and setup
is now continuing. Thanks again John John.

You're welcome.
