Installation hardware advice

I am unclear as to several issues with migrating to Vista on my current
machine. The Vista advisor says my hardware is good to go.

1. I need to replace the physical C/D drive with a larger one as there's not
enough room to install Vista.
2. I was thinking about doing a RAID setup with 2x500GB SATA drives. Can I
install Vista on one, then install the 2nd drive once I've Ghosted my data
over from my old 2nd physical drive? Or do I need to install the RAID first?
There are connectors for the IDE drives so I could have the 2nd drive working
after the RAID install.
3. Is there another way, easier, to migrate my data and programs once the
new drives are installed?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

One point of doing a RAID is that data is copied to both drives, so
irregardless of whether you are striping or mirroring, both must be in place
at the time of installation. Data can simply be copied to some other media
for storage. Unless you are upgrading an existing operating system, programs
must be reinstalled from their original installation media.
