PROBLEM REPORT

Powerpoint version now in use: MSOFficepowerpoint2003

Version the file was created in or opened in since, if any:

Windows version: windows XP

Other hardware involved (printer, etc):

Description of problem: Willnot install

When I do this: try to open a doc file

Here's what happens (include text of any error messages that appear):The
command cannot be performed because a dialog box is open. I then hit OK and
it comes up with "ERROR 25090. Office setup encountered a p;roblem with the
office Source Engine, system error: -2147023838. Please open C:\program
files|microsoft office\office11\1033\setup.chm and look for "Office Source
Engine" for information on how to solve this problem.

I am unable to get into the "administrator" so I cannot do what it says. It
then tries to load again and asks for a registration number. The program
came on this computer so I do not have the CD or anything else that would
give me that number.

or

Here's what I expect to happen, but it doesn't:I expedct it to open a file.
RFT,TXT,DOC and any other text file I need.

Here's what I've already tried to solve the problem:

I have searched all over for the registration number, I have done what
paragraph 1 says and printed off the instructions. I am unable to get to the
"Administrator" on this new computer, hence, I cannot continue with the fix
they recommend.

Powerpoint will open .ppt, .pps, and .pot files. You should not
use Powerpoint to open .doc, .txt, or .rtf files... use Microsoft
Word to do that, and then copy and paste the contents from Word
to Powerpoint.

Regarding the "The command cannot be performed because a dialog
box is open" error message: If you're using Symantec/Norton
AntiVirus, try disabling the Office Plugin that comes with it.
See http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=329820 "How to use Office
programs with the Norton AntiVirus Office plug-in" for more
information.

Regarding the "25090" error message: See
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827467 "'Error 25090' error
message when you start an Office 2003 program" and
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/834581 "You receive an error
message you try to repair, reinstall, or install an 'on demand'
feature in an Office 2003 program". If your copy of Office 2003
is not a trial version, and if Office 2003 came preinstalled on
your computer, then your computer manufacturer should have
supplied you with an Office 2003 CD, or instructions for making
your own Office 2003 CD from a compressed image of the program on
your hard drive... contact your computer manufacturer or read the
documentation that came with your computer.
