install XPHome erases all Win98 desktop files-NOT the folders

Hello,

I installed XPHome on my Win98 PC and everything OK
except that all the folders in Windows/desktop are empty.
No files anymore, just folders.
Can this be undone?

Check under other profiles:

C:\Documents and settings\<username>\desktop
