I have started using an external usb drive. If it is
used as primary drive will system performance improve?
How do you get XP to load to a drive other than C.

The operating system *MUST* be installed to a 'fixed disk' - an external USB
drive is *not* fixed. Windows will not boot off an external device because
(and someone please correct me if I'm wrong) the drivers for an external
device aren't loaded until Windows has booted. An external drive should be
used for data storage only.
