I have a laptop with blank hdd, and no floppy but the bios will permit
boot
via lan. I also have a external cd-rom vith a pcmcia card, but after
booting and the WinXP install hardware inspection is finnished i get
an exit code 0x7B.

I tried with Win Me (i got'a really be desperate) and got an error
message on a missing cdrom driver. I don't know if it is the same
problem but it seems to me i got only the network left.

So. inorder to Install via network...

How do I set up my other computer (running WinXP) to enable en WinXP
installation on the laptop via network?

I suppose i have to share the i386 folder from the XP-cd, but should
this be done with an ftp server or how?

please, I'm getting rather desperate here.

Your best bet is to copy the I386 folder to the hard drive on the laptop, then install from there. Gives you the additional advantage of having the setup files available for later use without having to go through the whole hassle again.
