I need to install my Windows XP professional on my Notebook with SCSI
controller.
But I don't have a Floppy integrated...and when I press F6 the system
read only in the drive A:\

There are a solution for this problem?

I think this question would be better asked of the tech support folks at
the manufacturer of the notebook.

My HD in the notebook are SCSI...
The restore kit are Windowx XP Home edition...
but for my work I have buy Windows XP professional Edition.
Now I would re-install the operative system but my HD SCSI dont's see
when start the installation from CD of my new OS Win XP Pro...

There are a solution?

Thank you

Contact the laptop mftr. for instructions how to upgrade their machine
to Pro. They will also have any necessary drivers. If in fact you
really have SCSI (unlikely in a notebook), you may need to purchase or
borrow a USB floppy drive.

Also, to Windows XP it identifies other Mass Storage controllers such
as Firewire, SATA and SCSI all within the SCSI controller category.
This includes a number of PCI add-in Mass Storage controller boards.
Use Everest Home Edition to determine the actual hardware of your PC.

Good points, Mac. BTW, Lavalys isn't offering Everest Home any more
(damn it). Glad I saved the executable. Belarc is still available, and
someone else mentioned Sisoft's Sandra. The older Aida32 is around,
too.

But since this is a laptop, really the OP needs to contact the laptop
mftr. about this upgrade.

Yep, I have "Good Ole Version 1.51" of Everest stored away.
A good program, very handy for locating Chipsets, hardware
especially in notebooks. It's handy for MB sensors, like drives.

OT: I don't know about you & your business, but this time of
year I must get 75 phone calls wanting advice on what kind
of PC to buy. This year it's a little more difficult as you have
to explain SATA, Dual-Core & 64-Bit. I need to add a new
Service charge - General Questions, 10-Minutes for $25.
Funny thing is 95% of them (Customers) end up at Dell (?),
so I get to cash in on a few "De-Dell-ifications" after Santa
turns up.

That version of Everest is old. Do you have my email? If yes, drop me a
line and I'll send you the most recent version. Otherwise, I'll assume
the one you use here is good but munged and I'll contact you off-list.
I don't ever post a real email address on Usenet, even a munged one,
because I've gotten some strange mail that way.

The newer one has less features than 1.51.

Might not be a bad thing to have that version for my "Collection" of
"Oldies, but Goodies". You can use this address, minus the obvious
punctuation symbols and 'Munge' code. It's not really a monitored
email, but used for NG/Remote Assist. tickets. -
