install shield

i cannot install any games, as i think my install shields files are corrupt
or missing.how can i repair it as i get an error message saying is1.tmp and
wont let me install any games

please someone help??

Almost regularly on startup, my computer displays "KMENTSRV.EXE has encountered a problem and needs
to close..."

What is this and why, or what, makes it come up? Is there a way to fix it - it does not seem to
affect my programs as they all run well anyway.
