Install/remove programs error msg

I am having a problem using xp inst/remov program in
control panel. i used it to remove HP printer sftw
(ofcjet d145 series) and yet the hp stwr remains in the
list - though I no longer have the add/remove/change
option...

In addition, when I try to reinstall it with HP's disk,
it states that the prog is already installed. There are
no files or directories for this printer on my pc.

Do I have to edit something in the registry? if so, what?
can I somehow "repair" the install/remove program????

First off have you try going into safemode and see
whether its still listed ??? You can try this nice little
add and remove program that does a real good job , here
the link for it
