Install or active global IME

I know this may sound very stupid.
I want to know how edit chinese characters in Window-XP
Word. The help page says not to download new imech.exe
from microsoft.com, because Window XP always already has
one. I can't find it. Or maybe it is not stored in a
file named imech.exe, Maybe I have to activate it somehow.
Anybody, help please. Thanks a lot.
